TRANSPORT BOARD CHAIRMAN
MR C'. C. HOLLAND REELECTED
Mr C. C. Holland’ was re-elected chairman of the Christchurch Transport Board yesterday, when the new board held its first meeting. Mr G. D. Griffiths was elected deputy-chairman, replacing Mr F. C. Penfold. Mr Holland welcomed the only new member, Mr J. Mathison, M.P., and said Mr Mathison, as a Parliamentarian and a former member of the board, would be a valuable member. There was no room for politics on the board, and he had no intention of introducing them, said Mr Mathison. He would be happy to serve again on such an important local body. The board expressed appreciation of the services. of the defeated member, Mr J. R. Smith, who was on the board for three years.
