ELECTIONS IN SICILY
Gains By Christian Democrats
(Rec. 7 p.m.) PALERMO, June 6. Returns from yesterday’s elections to Sicily’s 90-seat semi-autonomous Parliament tonight indicated a considerable gain by the Christian Democrats at the expense of most other parties, including the Communists. On the basis of 70 per cent, of the votes counted in the island’s nine provinces, observers predict that the Christian Democrats, Italy’s only major political opponents of the Communists, might add six seats to the 30 they had in the last regional Parliament at Palermo.
