BOY DESERTS FOSTER HOME
POLICE FIND FUGITIVE IN EMPTY HOUSE (New Zealand Press Association) AUCKLAND. June 3. Barefoot, and clad in clothing cut from sacking, a 14-year-old boy who had been missing for a week from a farm at Greenhithe. near Auckland, was found in the district by a police search party this morning. The search began on Wednesday night, when the police first learned he was missing. The boy, who is a ward of the State, was placed with a Greenhithe family only a few months ago. He left them without warning, leaving behind his ordinary clothing. He has been sheltering in haystacks and bush-filled gullies, and is known to have built a mia mia in a deserted part of a farm property. The boy was seen during yesterday’s search, but eluded pursuers. He sprang through a fence and into dense bush. He was found today in an unoccupied house.
