CULTURAL SOCIETY
A bracket of four songs, charmingly sung by Miss Beryl Gough with Miss Althea Harley Slack as accompanist, opened the programme at the monthly meeting of the Christchurch Cultural Society in Begg’s concert hall on Saturday evening. The songs were followed by two piano solos played by 1 Mr John McLaughlin. The speaker was Mr Geoffrey Harrow, a member of the 1954 New Zealand expedition that attempted to climb Makalu. Mr D. J. Hewitt, who presided, welcomed two new members and thanked the artists and Mr Harrow.
