NOTED TEACHER OF DANCING
MR HENRY JACQUES TO VISIT N.Z.
A world-famous figure in ballroom dancing circles, Mr Henry Jacques, London, is to visit New Zealand. He will reach Wellington next Friday for a stay of 10 weeks in the Dominion.
Recognised as the most outstanding lecturer on dancing in the world, he is author of the book “Modern Ballroom Dancing.” Mr Jacques is to teach, lecture, judge and examine in New Zealand on behalf of the National Association of Teachers of Dancing. Till he retired from competitive dancing, undefeated in 1937, he was British professional ballroom champion from 1934. He has been on the judging panel for the “Star” championships in London for many years. Mr Jacques has coached many notable dancers to win major championships in Britain and Europe including Tommy Rogers and Hylde Lamont, North of England champions, “Star” and British finalists who toured New Zealand in 1951. At the National Association of Teachers of Dancing annual ball in Wellington on June 4, Mr Jacques will judge ballroom and Latin-Ameri-can competitions. A record number will be competing not only from Weflington, but Auckland, Napier, Palmerston North, Nelson, Christchurch and Dunedin.
