WOMEN’S DIVISION OF FEDERATED FARMERS

Styx.—The monthly meeting of the Styx branch of the Women’s Division of Federated Farmers was held in the Papanui R.SA. hall. Mrs Rule presided. Competitions were as follows: —Tumbler: Mrs I. Stirling. Single bloom: Mrs Monkman. Cooking: Mrs Goss. Sewing: Mrs F. Spencer. Spike: Mrs G. Pearce. Roon Hay.—Mrs Rountree presided at the monthly meeting of the Hoon Hay branch of the Women’s Division of Federated Farmers. Sympathy was expressed with Mrs Bennett in her recent bereavement. A report of the executive meeting was given by the president. Invitations to birthday parties from Styx and Yaldhurst were received and accepted. Members were reminded of the residential school at Te Kitiroa in June. A demonstration on the making of handbags and flower pictures was given by Mrs Chapman. Flower competition winners were Mrs Braithwaite, Mrs Keith, Mrs Boswell and Mrs Taylor <2). Best article from sugar bag: Mrs Wilson'. ScargUl-Motunau.—The annual meeting of the Scargill-Motunau branch of the Women's Division of Federated Farmers wrb held in the memorial hall. The electioiLW officers resulted as follows:—president, Mrs R. C. Overton; vice-presidents, Mra I. McKenzie, Mrs H.- V. Murray and Mrs G. Gardner: advisory member, Mrs W. Brown; representative on hall committee, Mrs A. Gardner; secretary, Mrs L. J. McNaughton; treasurer, Mrs J. W. Mosley; auditor, Mr G. A. Greig; committee, Mesdames B. A. Coe, A. D. Fox, G. A. Greig, A. Gardner, B. A. Nicholls and A. Rutherford; press reporter, Mrs G. Annear. Mr A. D. Fox showed films of the recent garden party and others of interest to members. Mrs S. M. Deans, who is leaving the district, was bidden Lyndon-Waiau.—Mrs Sunckell presided at the May meeting of the Lyndon-Waiau branch of Women’s Division of Federated Farmers. Letters of appreciation were received from members for flowers while in-hospital. It .was decided to send two delegates to the Dominion conference. Mrs Low gave a report on the executive meeting held at CUiverden. Mr Matthews gave -a talk on electricity in the home. I ? rr s me 2 Beaven 2, Miss r. Beaven 3. A jar of lw 1, Ita Dunbar -2, Mrs Motnaau Beach:—Mrs Buchanan pressed at the annual meeting of the SIS 3K stood in silence as a mark of respect to the memory of Miss W. Lange. •- . i Ouruhia.—-The fourth annual meeting of the Ouruhia branch of the Women’s Division of Federated Farmers was held recently, Mrs S. Gower presided. The following officers were electedpresident.. Mrs, W. Jonnstone; vice-presidents. Mesdames W. L. BroWn and G; Lyall; secretory, Mrs H. G. Wells; committee, Mesdames C. Marsh, L. Johnston, and Miss Dunlop; competition steward, Mrs McWhirter. The results of the monthly competitions were as follows:—large bloom: Misa Dunlop 1, Mrs Stead 2, Mesdames C: Marsh and L. Fairweather presided at the annual meeting of the Harewood branch-of the Women’s Division of Federated Farmers. The following officers were elected: president, Mrs J. Sharp; vice-presidents, Mesdames G. Preece, M. Orchard, and R. Blair; secretary-treas-uxer, Mrs H. Ostler; committee, MesdarPes D. Carson, E. Richards, G. Montgomery, and E. King. Competition winners were Mesdames H. Scarlett, L. Watson, G. Preece, and J. Sharp.
