Irwin (second from left), with four retiring headmasters who were bidden farewell by the board yesterday. The headmasters, from left, are Messrs S. H. Sullivan (Waimataitai), A. B. Fordyce (Shirley), W. G. Mayer (Tai Tapu) and F. J. Tempero (Fendalton). Mr Irwin paid a tribute to the work done by the four men, each of whom briefly reviewed his association with education.
