MAN DIES OF INJURIES
ARREST MADE IN NELSON MANSLAUGHTER CHARGE (New Zealand Press Association) NELSON, April 25. A school teacher from Pakawau, near Collingwood, Claude Claire Neville Kitchmgman. aged 36, married, with one child, died from injuries in the kitchen of the Panarpa Hotel in Nelson about 3.30 o’clock on Sunday morning. After inquiries by the police, a man, 41 years of age, was arrested today and charged with manslaughter. He will appear in the Nelson Magistrate’s Court tomorrow.
Both Kitchingman and the arrested man were guests at the hotel. Kitchingman had. come to Nelson to take part in the Returned Services’ Association shooting competitions on Saturday and he attended the association’s annual reunion in the evening. The arrested man was visiting Nelson for the Nelson industries fair. At the time there were a number of people in the kitchen of the hotel where they were to have had something to eat. An altercation started between the man who has been arrested and another person, and Kitchingman received injuries from which he died while still in the hotel kitchen.
