SHIRLEY’S PRIDE WINS CUP RACE (New Zealand Press Association) INVERCARGILL, April 24. A record totalizator turnover for the course of £20,062 was handled at the Wairio Jockey Club’s annual meeting at Wairio on Saturday. This was an increase of £7560 on the £12,502 handled last year. The meeting was held in fine weather before a large attendance. The track was in good order. Two favourites, Shirley’s Pride end Red Biretta, won the totalisator double.
