OBSERVANCE OF ANZAC DAY
SPECIAL CEREMONIES IN BRITAIN (Special Correspondent N.Z.P.A.)
LONDON, April 19. New Zealand will be represented at Anzac ceremonies in London, Bath, Bristol, Edinburgh, and Walton on Thames.
In London wreaths will be laid at the Cenotaph in Whitehall by the New Zealand High Commissioner (Mr T. C. Webb) and by Lord Freyberg. Two minutes’ silence will be observed and “Last Post” and "Reveille” sounded. There will be a service in Westminster Abbey at noon. Brigadier E. H. Gilbert, senior Army liaison officer, will represent the High Commissioner at the Anzac service at Holy Trinity Church, Bath, on the morning of April 24 and in the evening he will be at Bristol for a parade and service at the Church of St. Thomas the Martyr. . Wreaths will be laid at the Bristol Cenotaph. Major B. M. Poananga will represent Mr Webb at the ceremony at the Scottish National War Memorial in Edinburgh on Anzac Day. Lieu-tenant-Colonel Bernard Myers, Wing Commander R. C. Abernethy and Squadron Leader J. W. C. Love will attend the sendee at Walton on Thames.
