EXPLOSION IN CRUISER
PUBLIC INQUIRY ON APRIL 28
(New Zealand Press Association) AUCKLAND, April 20. The Commission of Inquiry set up by the Government to investigate the accident which caused the death of two sailors in the cruiser Black Prince, will open its hearings on April 28 at H.M.N.Z.S. Philomel.
Mr L. G. H. Sinclair, S.M., senior Magistrate in Auckland, has been appointed the commission, and Mr R. K. Davison, of Auckland, counsel assisting the commission. Sir Vincent Meredith will represent the Navy Department The commission will report to the Government by-May 31. The explosion which killed the two men, Pettey Officer R. N. Tyler and Leading Seaman R. J. Curry, occurred in Queen Chnrlotte Sound on March 23 while anti-sabotage exercises were being carried out 1
