The Minister of Industries and Commerce (Mr D. J. Eyre) will open the New Zealand Industries Fair in Christchurch on Friday, April 29. Mr B. R. Law has been appointed managing director of Imperial Chemical Industries (N.Z.), Ltd. He has been general manager of the company in Wellington since 1944.—(P.A)
Mr W. J. E. V. Grace, formenly district engineer in Christchurch for the Railways Department, will leave today for Wellington to take up his new appointment as inspecting engineer for the department at Wellington.
The Papanui High School Board yesterday appointed Mr F. L. Drury chairman, Mr R. H. McDonald deputychairn.an, and Professor H. J. Hopkins representative on the Chirstchurch Post-primary Schools’ Council. Messrs W. P. Glue and O. G. Mitchell were welcomed .to the board representing local bodies and employers, respectively.
Six members of the Christchurch Police Force who have recently resigned or are "to be transferred to other centres, were entertained by the Police Social Club last evening. They were Senior-Sergeant A. B. Collinge, Sergeant R. T. Turnbull, and Constaljle R. Gibb, who have been transferred, and Detectives A. V. Brown, P. R. Callanan. and Constable P. McGuire, who have resigned from the force.
