KEEN BIDDING FOR SHEEP FARMS
EYREWELL LAND BRINGS £lO AN ACRE
Keen interest was shown by buyers when a property at Eyrewell, consisting of 2310 acres Of sheep country, was offered at an auction in Christchurch yesterday. The property was sold on behalf of the estate of the late M. J. Dixon, and was offered in two blocks. Bidding for the eastern block, of 988 acres 1 rood 11 perches, opened at £6 an acre, and rose by three bids of £l, one of 10s, and two of 5s to the final figure of £lO an acre. The western block, of 1332 acres, was sold for £8 an acre, after bidding had opened at £5 and risen by two bids of £l, and two of 10s an acre. „ The property is situated on the South Eyre road, about 24 miles from Christchurch, and is watered by races. At another auction, a cropping and grazing property of 67 acres 1 rood at Cust was sold for £3l an acre. Bidding opened at £25 an acre, and rose by six bids of £1 each. A seven-roomed bungalow on a secacre 1 rood 35 perches at 38 Middleton road, Upper Riccarton was passed in at £5250. At another auction, a property at 12 Knowles Albans, was passed in at £3lOO. The property comprises a house of six main rooms on a section of 38 perches.
