CONSOLIDATION OF SCHOOLS
WINDWHISTLE MEETING SUPPORTS PLAN Windwhistle householders approved, by 27 votes to one, the proposal to consolidate the Windwhistle and Glenroy schools at the biennial meeting the election of the school committee. Last week a meeting at Glenroy also approved amalgamation of the schools. Consolidation is now conditional on agreement between the two committees on a new site. This raust also have the approval of the Education Board and arrangements can then be made for the purchase of land and the erection of a two-teacher .school.
The meeting was addressed by the secretary-manager of the board (Mr L. S. P. Butcher), the local board member (Mr G. C. Warren), and Mr S. Tetter on behalf of the board’s transport officer.
Unlike the Glenroy school, the Windwhistle school is on a satisfactory site, but its buildings and amenities are poor. The school is one of the ? ld .e* *yP e sectional corrugated iron buildings and is unsuited to the rigorous winters.
