REMANDED Henry Allen, aged 35, a carpenter, charged with false pretences in that he obtained from Thomas Edward Johnston, Hotel Esplanade, New Brighton, the sum of £59 7s by falsely representing that a cheque for £6B la signed Jim A. Adams was good and valid, was remanded until next Tuesday. John George Irvine Fisher, aged 51, a labourer, was remanded for one week on a charge of being idle and disorderly in that he was found by night without lawful excuse on enclosed premises at 28 North Avon road on Monday. Bail was slowed in the sum of £5O and one surety of £5O. TRAFFIC BREACHES ~ Traffic offenders prosecuted by the Transport Department were dealt with as follows: Exceeding \speed limit: John Bruce Douglas-Clifford, £2; Margaret Kathleen Cracroft-Wilson, £3; Maxwell Norman Holden, £4; Edgar Leonard Watson, £2. Overtaking without 300 ft visibility: Stanley Peter Fisher, £3. ’ Exceeding axle-weight: Langford Motors, Ltd., £2. Offenders prosecuted by the traffic department of the Christchurch City Council were fined as follows: Failed to give way: William Owen Alexander, £3; Gerard Henry Terence Jarvis, £2 (no warrant of fitness £l, no driver’s licence 10s); Petrus Carolus Venter, £3. A charge against Leo Birnie Beattie was dimissed. (He was fined £1 for having no warrant of fitness.) Obstructing vehicular entrance: Albert Barrett 30s, Florence Rita Calder 20s, Ronald Winder £2. Parking breaches: Norman Leslie Hider £3, Albert Forde Jennings 20s, Cyril Raymond McCallister 20s, Donald Robert Massam 20s, Jack Joseph Minehan £2, William Alfred Pickup 30s, Ronald William Searle £2, Charles Edward Stuart £3, Peter Albert Thomson 20s, John Russell Toon 20s.
