PRIMARY SCHOOL COMMITTEES

ADDITIONAL RESULTS ANNOUNCED The attendance of 100 at the Cashmere householders’ meeting to elect a school committee on Monday evening —the largest number reported—arose from an impression that pupils from “the flat” might be refused entry because of growing roll numbers. A large number of the parents present were from suburbs round the foot of the hills whose children go or propose to go to the Cashmere School. They were ready to resist any move to restrict numbers to pupils on the hills. Mr S. J. Irwin, who is chairman ’ of the Canterbury Education Board, told the meeting that no such proposal had been approved by the board.
