APPLICANTS FOR MILK ROUNDS
SOME SAID TO HAVE DECLINED OFFERS The six applicants at the top of the waiting list for milk rounds have been asked by the Christchurch Metropolitan Milk Board for an assurance that they are fully prepared to purchase a round. There are 103 applicants on the list. “During recent months a certain number of applicants nearing the top of the waiting list who have been advised of the availability of rounds have declined the board’s offer on more than one occasion,” said the chairman (Mr L. P. Christie) in his report to the board yesterday. “Apart from the possibility of some special circumstances, the emergency committee considers that applicants who have attained a top position on the waiting list should be in a position to accept a round when one is offered.
‘ ‘Therefore a letter has been sent to the applicants concerned advising that their applications have been held over pending receipt of advice that they are fully prepared to purchase a round. On receipt of this information, the applications will be reconsidered.”
