Pakistan Proposal At Talks (Rec. 10 pjn.) BANDUNG, April 18. Pakistan will ask the Asian-African conference this week to call oil the United Nations to admit eight countries into the organisation, an authoritative source said today. The countries are: Cambodia, Ceylon, Japan, Jordan, Laos, Libya, Nepal, and Vietnam.
It will also call on the conference to declare that their admission should not be vetoed by any of the Security Council’s Big Five permanent members—Britain, France, the United States, the Soviet Union, and Nationalist China. Russia has often applied ner power of veto to prevent several of these countries from joining. The question of seating Communist China in the United Nations can be raised under the agenda adopted by the conference, Japanese delegates told the American Associated Press.
Communist China was reported by some delegates to be determined to get something conclusive out of .the meeting and not to have the six-day conference filled up with fruitless talk. But on the surface, at least, the agenda appeared to be a victory for Mr Nehru, who said he thought general principles should be discussed and not specific questions.
