FIELD NEAR LITTLE RIVER TESTS TO BE MADE AT WEEK-END A permanent gliding airfield will 1* established by the Canterbury Gliding Club near the outlet of Lake Forsyth if soaring tests to be made by dw members soon prove successful. Heavy powered traffic through Christchurch airport restricts the freedom of sailplanes. . Mr F. M. Dunn, chief instructor of the club, said last evening that a decision would be reached within th® next two weeks. The club owned ■ hangar bought from the R.N.ZA-r-’ ana if tne site was approved * „ would be moved from the Ashburton airfield, and set up on the new site. Members would spend the whole of to® coming week-end at the site, said Mr Dunn. . Winch launching of sailplanes would be possible at the new site, he saio. but aero-towing was preferable ana would still be used if p ~ ible.
