WOMEN’S DIVISION OF FEDERATED FARMERS
Diamond Harbour-Purau.—The Diamond Harbi ur-Purau branch of the Women’s Division of Federated Farmers held its March meeting in the memorial community hall. The president (Mrs Wood) gave a report of the recent inter-pro-vincial conference at Rangiora. Mrs Jekyll and Mrs Hayes acted as hostessesCompetition results were:—An uncooked confecticn: Mrs Jekyll 1, Mrs Wood and Mrs Ghent (equal) 2. Hot water bottle cover: Mrs Athol Gardiner 1, Mrs Clibborn 2, Mrs Ghent 3. Cooking cup: Mrs Jekyll. Sewing cup: Mrs Athol Gardiner.
Wairakei.—Mrs Wallace gave an interesting talk on the St. John Ambulance Association at the monthly meeting of the Wairakei branch of the Women’s Division of Federated Farmers. Competitions resulted:—Three asters: Mesdames Shannon 1, Rice 2, A. Johnson 3. One lb jar of mixed flowers: Mesdames Simpson 1, Marks 2, Rice 3.‘ One jar of preserves: Mesdames Rice 1, Marks 2, Kolkman 3. Hostesses competition: Mrs Marks. The hostesses were Mesdames Ashby, Cooper and Shannon.
Ouruhi*.—Mrs Brown presided and welcomed Mrs Feather a new member, at the monthly meeting of the Ouruhia branch of the Women’s Division Federated Farmers. An invitation to Clark-ville-East Eyreton branch birthday party was received. Competition results were as follows: Small bloom: Mrs McWhirter 1, Mrs W. L. Ashby 2, Miss Dunlop 3. Large bloom: Mrs McWhirter 1, Mrs C. Marsh 2, Miss Dunlop 3. Spike: Miss Dunlop 1, Mrs Wilkinson 2, Mrs Townley 3. Cluster: Miss Dunlop 1, Mrs Townley 2, Mesdames Wilkinson and Curtis (equal) 3, Decorative: Mrs Ashby 1, Mesdames McWhirter and Townley (equal) 2. Mrs W. R. Ashby 3. Sewing: Mrs L. Johnston 1. Mrs Brown 2. Mrs Townley 3. Mrs McWhirter won the cup for the month.
