SPEEDBOAT RACING
JEFFRIES CUP WON BY CONQUEST
With a win and a second place, Conquest, driven by J. Reed, gained a total of eight points to win the Jeffries Cup. a combined B and C class event, competed for in two races, at the speedboat racing held by the New Brighton Power Boat Club on the Estuary at Pleasant Point on Saturday. Runner-up was Slipstream (B. D. Gregan), with a total of six points, with Fireball (S. Besley), four points, third. In the C class handicap Master Wayne (N. Sutton) crossed the line first, but was disqualified for breaking its handicap time by more than 5 per cent. The second boat, Dash (B. Downey), was promoted to first place.
