SYDNEY GRAMMAR WINS HEAD OF RIVER (N.Z. Press Association—Copyright) (Rec. 7.30 p.m.) SYDNEY, April 17. Sydney Grammar School won the great public schools’ head-of-the-river rowing race for eights for the first time in 15 years yesterday. Grammar beat St. Joseph's by a quarter of a length, with Shore a quarter of a length back in third iMace. The race, which was over a mile and a half on the Nepean river, was contested under overcast conditions with almost dead water. More than 25,000 persons watched the race in light rain. Grammar took the lead at the half-way mark and maintained it. The time was Bmin 2sec. In Geelong, Geelong College won the Victorian great public schools’ head-of-the-river regatta from Wesley and Scotch, who dead-heated for second. In Brisbane, Brisbane Grammar won the head-of-the-river title from South port and Church of England Grammar.
