Cost Of Korean War
(N.Z. Press Association—Copyright) PHILADELPHIA, April 15. The war in Korea cost the United States about 18,000,000,000 dollars (abbut £6,530,000,000), Mr H. Struve Hensel, Assistant Secretary of Defence, said today. The Army alone spent more than 16,000,000,000 dollars (about £5,805,000,000). Mr Hensel, in an address prepared for delivery before the World Affairs Council, said that during the last five years and a half the United States had spent about 172,000,000,000 dollars (about £62,394,000,000) on its own forces and about 11,000,000,000 dollars (about £3,991,000,000) “in the creation of military strengths among our allies.”
