FINAL OF AMATEUR CUP

Bishop Auckland won the Football Association Amateur Cup today, when it beat Hendon by 2 goals to 0 in the final at Wembley Stadium. It was Bishop Auckland’s eighth cup—an all-time record. It was making its sixteenth appearance in a final. Hendon, whose ground is only a few miles from Wembley, was playing in its first final. In bright sunshine a capacity crowd of 100,000 saw Bishop Auckland gain a deserved victory through a goal in each half by the England amateur international inside right, Derek Lewin, who is in hiS first season with the club.
