NEW AIR SERVICE PROPOSED
LINK BETWEEN NELSON AND HAMILTON "The Press” Special Service
AUCKLAND, April 12. The National Airways Corporation hopes to start a new weekday return service between Nelson and Hamilton on May 23. Provided an operational licence is granted for Rotorua, the corporation will use its new de Havilland Herons on the run.
The Heron will leave Nelson at 7.55 a.m. ‘each day, flying via Rongotai. Napier and Rotorua, to arrive at Hamilton at midday. The return flight will be in the afternoon.
If licences are granted first, to operate a service, and second, to operate it with Herons, it will mean that the uneconomic Dominie, a smaller plane, will take another step to the rear. The Herons have so far been used on the Cook Strait services. They carry 14 passengers.
