REVELATION OF U.S. SECRETS

CONCERN EXPRESSED BY EISENHOWER (N.Z. Press Association—Copyright) WASHINGTON, April 9. President Eisenhower believes that technical military secrets have been made available to the Soviet Union through publication of such information in the United States, the White House press secretary said today. The official, Mr James Hagerty, told reporters that Mr Eisenhower is disturbed about the situation.

He declined to say whether Mr Eisenhower’s views are related to the new Defence Department information directives put into effect last week by the Secretary of Defence (Mr Charles Wilson).

Mr Hagerty had been asked for comment on a newspaper report that Mr Eisenhower is “deeply concerned” over what he regards as “an excessive flow of military information from this country to the Soviet Union.” The report added: “He (the President) thinks the United States is telling the Russians too much. He thinks the Russians are profiting from it.”
