TESTS FOR ENTRANCE TO UNIVERSITY

STUDY IN CHRISTCHURCH BY UA EXPERT Dr Paul S. Burnham, associate professor of psychology at Yale University in the United States, will visit Canterbury University College as a Fulbright research scholar. He is expected to arrive early next week. An expert in standard testa of ability and attainment. Dr. Burnham will help in studying possible changes in methods for determining eligibility for entrance to the university, - Members of the college staff are at present particularly interested in standardised tests of ability, and the professorial board has planned a research programme on the subject. The University of New Zealand has requested that the New Zealand Council for Educational Research at Wellington should investigate the use of such tests in assessing ability for university entrance. Dr. Burnham will probably be given time in which to visit other university colleges in New Zealand, and to co-operate with the Council for Educational Research.
