RACING TRAINER DISQUALIFIED
SEQUEL TO TAKING OF SWAB DECISION BY AUCKLAND COMMITTEE (New Zealand. Press Association) AUCKLAND, February 23. A racehorse trainer, R. K. Loye, of Cambridge, was today disqualified for 12 months by the Auckland District Committee of the New Zealand Racing Conference. The disqualification was an outcome of an inquiry into the result of a positive test of a swab taken from Tinonui. the winner of the Waitemata Hack Handicap at Ellerslie on December 29. The committee found that Tinonui had strychnine administered to her, snd that Loye was guilty of negligence in that he did not take all proper precautions to prevent the administration of such drug. A charge of corrupt practice against Loye was dismissed. Tinonui was disqualified for the race. WAIKATO INQUIRY REPORT ON CUTLASS CORRECTED
(New Zealand Press Association) , AUCKLAND, February 23. The ‘‘New Zealand Herald” advises the following correction:— “A report published today of a hearing by the Waikato District Committee of the New Zealand Racing Conference incorrectly stated that the racehorse Cutlass fell dead during the running of the Matangi Hack Hurdles at Te Rapa. In fact, Cutlass was destroyed after he broke a leg in a' fall. The meeting was held on November 27.”
