CLOSING DAY AT NEW BRIGHTON
CR. T. GREEN CORRECTS VOTING Making her only remarks for several years in open council, Cr. T. Green said at Monday evening’s meeting of the City Council that her vote on the statutory closing date for New Brighton at the special meeting three weeks ago was wrongly recorded. Her vote was for Saturday closing, she said. The vote should have read nine for and six against, not eight for and seven against. “Is this your maiden speech ” asked Cr. J. E. Tait. “Don’t be so cheeky,” commented Cr. M. B. Howard, M.P. “If you did not talk so much we would get through quickly.”
