SUPERPHOSPHATE WORKS
Southland Factory Planned COST EXPECTED TO BE ABOUT £1,000,000 (New Zealand Press Association) DUNEDIN, February 22. A new superphosphate works is to be erected in Southland within the next 18 months at a cost believed to be about £1,000,000. The companies concerned are Kempthorne Prosser and Company’s New Zealand Drug Company, Ltd., and the Dominion Fertiliser Company, Ltd. Mr F. M. Oldham, chairman of directors of Kempthorne Prosser, said today that the proposal involved heavy capital expenditure by the companies concerned.
Spokesmen for the companies said that there were several sites under consideration, but none had been selected. The new company would not be run on a co-operative basis, but the companies would welcome capital from farmers.
