Upre (?. e c< > ur t at Auckland today before Mr Justice Stanton and a jury. The chemist, Patrick Edward Golding, aged 49, was represented by Mr Moeller. He pleaded not guilty to a charge of indecent assault. The complainant, a single woman, said that she went to a chemist’s shop about 9.20 a.m. on December 3. She gave a doctor’s prescription to the accused, who said it would take about five minutes to prepare. The witness said she waited in the shop, and then the accused returned, spoke to her, seized her by the wrist, and dragged her into the dispensary. He then pushed a glass full of a black liquid towards her lips, and tried to make her drink it, saying it was better than the prescription she had given him. The witness said she jolted the glass away, some of it spilling down her skirt, and the remainder on the floor The accused then indecently assaulted her. When someone came into the shop, said the witness, the accused pushed a handkerchief into her mouth and told her to be quiet, “or else.” The person soon went away, and the witness freed herself, picked up her medicine, and ran from the shop. Acting-Detective A. B. Hodkihson said that on the floor of the dispensary were some black stains, a sample of which was taken. Kenneth Griffin, a Government analyst, said the stains contained iron, whirfl might have come from a ferrule ammonium citrate solution. There was also iron in the stains on the complainant’s skirt. He believed that this cstne from the same type of solution. The hearing will continue tomorrow.
