Queen At Women’s Institute
(N.Z. Press Association—Copyright) (Rec. 8 pjm.) LONDON, January 10. The Queen today joined members of the Sandringham (Norfolk) Women’s Institute in singing “Daisy Daisy” and “Goodbye Dolly I Must Leave You” to the music of a barrel organ. The Queen Mother and Princess Margaret also joined in, and afterwards the three Royal hostesses each sat at separate tables pouring tea for three members of the institute. At the Queen’s table were an electrician’s wife from Sandringham, the wife of a tapissier (carpet and tapestry expert) at Sandringham House, and the daughter of the Royal farm manager. The Queen Mother, who is the institute’s president, recalled that the Queen was unable to be present last January because of her Commonwealth tour, and said how delighted the members were to have her with them on this occasion.
