YOUTH COMMITTED * TO BORSTAL
(New Zealand Press Association) MASTERTON, January SO. For abducting a 16-year-old girl at Masterton on January 4, 1955, Ronald Leslie Evans, aged 18, a labourer, of Wanganui, was sentenced to be detained in a Borstal institution at the discretion of the Prisons Board, when he pleaded guilty to the charge in the Magistrate’s Court at Masterton today. The Magistrate (Mr J. R. Drummond, 5.M.,) said Evans had been warned last December against the kind of conduct for which he was before the Court. “You have taken no notice of the warning. Your conduct has been completely irresponsible,” the Magistrate said.
