New York Dock Union Officer Shot
(Rec. 11 p.m.) NEW YORK, Jan. 19. Mr Walter Smith, aged 45, organiser for the International Longshoremen’s Association in NeW York, was savagely beaten and then shot to death in his car today. Mr Smith had been involved in the bitter union dispute for power on the waterfront.'
