Cricket Umpire Killed By Lightning
(Rec. 11 p.m.) SYDNEY, November 7. A cricket umpire was struck dead by lightning during a violent storm in Sydney yesterday. Two other umpires also struck, one being seriously injured.
.The three men were struck by lightbing wb’ie sheltering under a free in Moore P; k. One was killed instantly the other two were hurled to the ground unconscious. Lightning also hurled a motorcyclist to the roadway near Waterfall, *b°ut 35 miles south of Sydney. Three who went to his assistance were thrown to the ground. m several suburbs house chimneys X er c damaged by lightning. At “trathafield a ball of fire cracked a cnimney. ripped slates from the roof, and made a hole four inches in > !!l a fr etcr in the ceiling. One occupant - house was knocked to the floor.
