BANK OF N.Z. TOURNAMENT
LONDON CUP WON BY CHRISTCHURCH
Staff of branches of the Bank of New Zealand throughout Canterbury pla?.*cd their annual tournaments for the Canterbury and London Cups on the Ashburton course yesterday. Large entries were received, and branches from Rangiora To Waimate were represented. The morning bogey match was wen by R. M. Ryburn, of Christchurch, who played well to finish 1 up from A. D. Norris. The Canterbury Cup was won by the Timaru player, J. Russell, after an excellent round of clean stroke play. The London Cup, formerly held by the Ashburton branch, was won by the Christchurch branch. The Canterbury Cup was given in 1932 by Messrs P. L. Porter and the late John MacGibbcn for individual competition, and the London Cup, one of five sent to New Zealand, and competed for on a branch points basis, was presented to the staffs of the Canterbury province by their London cclleagues “in gratitude for the generous gifts of food parcels dispatched to the London staff during the years 1941-SO.” Results were:—morning bogey match: R. M. Ryburn (Christchurch), 1 up; A. D. Norris (Christchurch), all square. Canterbury Cup: J. Russell (Timaru), all square; A. C. Parson, 1 down. The teams match for the London Cup was won by the Christchurch branch, with Waimate run-ners-up. Ladies' competition—-Stableford bogey: Mrs L. F. Evans (Christchurch), Miss H. Halliday (Christchurch).
