GARDENS THEFT ALLEGED
POLICE ASKED TO TAKE ACTION The police have beeq advised by the reserves committee of the City Council to institute proceedings against a woman for alleged theft of cuttings from the Botanic Gardens on Sunday, October 14. • The rooted cuttings, it is alleged, were taken from the rock garden. The woman was first observ/ed by the caretaker, who kept her under observation, and a constable was called. A number of rooted specimens and portions of plants were recovered. No further action against a Christchurch man who removed cactus plants from the gardens has been reported. The man is undergoing medical treatment. The dead plants were found in his garage. <
