PLACINGS ALTERED IN TROTTERS’ RACE
T After the running of the Mount Somers Handicap at Ashbtfrton on Saturday, the chief stipendiary steward (Mr F. J. Beer) lodged an objection against the placing of Superfortress, which had finished second after galloping for about half a furlong. After hearing the evidence of the driver of Superfortress, A. M. Purdon, a £ d f £ om their own observations, the stipendiary stewards decided to alter the piacings, relegating Superfortress to fourth, and promoting Lady Biddy and Anitra to second and third respectively. R ; t W ’«^Y n,e y- driver of Waitaki Joe in the Eiffelton Handicap, was fined £5 for crossing too quickly with just under one mile and three furlongs to run. M. J. Smith, driver of Dinnie Daley in the same race, was fined £2 for going to the scales with a faulty skull cap. c. McDonald, owner-trainer of Real Class, was fined £2 for the late scratching of the horse in the President’s Han-
