A RICCARTON DEATH-TRAP
Sir, —On Thursday I was agreeably surprised to notice a traffic officer holding the traffic while a line of Wharenui School children crossed Riccarton road, presumably on their way to cooking and woodwork classes. Well done! Now at Puriri street little tots of five years and upwards are expected to cross this dangerous road daily two and three times without the aid of a marked crossing, let alone an officer. Have the traffic department no concern for the children of this school, or have they not been approached regarding this danger?—Yours, etc., PURIRI LINES, PLEASE. October 3, 1954.
