He is Klause Rommel, aged 32 formerly an architect, who, with his wife and_ stepson, arrived in Sydney re S? nt . ly l n J he m ‘Srant ship Fairsea. 7 Most of his workmates are Australians, some of them veterans of the Western Desert campaign. They are unaware of his family link with the man they fought. Klause Rommel said he would never change his name to prevent any resentment being shown against him. He said: ‘lt is a name I shall always stick to—a name I am proud of.”
