DEATH OF CLASS MARE, BRONWEN
Bron wen died at the Rosehill Stud a few days ago. She was 20. Bron wen reached the heights as a sprinter when she won the Railway Handicap at Ellerslie In 1939. She repeated the performance in the following year. She was trained at Takanini by P. E. Pope. Bronwen was bred by Mr E. A. Price and was by Cambria Park from Recipio. Her first foal was destroyed. The second was the very useful performer Pelias (by Neptune), and the third Correspond (by Gold Nib). Correspond was top-class as a two-year-old, and one of the two horses which beat Mainbrace.
