TREATMENT OF EYE DISEASES
“STEADY PROGRESS IS BEING MADE” | (New Zealand Press Association) -■ AUCKLAND, September 27. Steady, if unspectacular, progress la being made in combating diseases of the eyes and certain types of blindness, according to Mr J. H. Doggaft, a British eye specialist, who arrived at Auckland.by air. today. Mr Doggart recently attended an international conference on ophthalmology at New York at which 54 countries were represented. “Nothing revolutionary emerged from the conference,’’ he said today, “but a lot ol progress is being made in perfecting treatments for eye diseases.” * Mr Doggart is surgeon and medical officer in charge of the orthoptic department at the Central Eye Hospital, Moorfields and Westminster. He h visiting New Zealand for a week to see his two sons in Wellington. On Monday he will leave by air fox Australia.
