PARLIAMENTARY DAY
(From Our Parliamentary Reporter) WELLINGTON, September 27. The House of Representatives had a fuU day on legislation today and made good progress through the Order Paper. The Opposition benches were depleted, as many members did not return ,to Wellington after the weekend, and when the House began at 2.30 p.m. there were only 11 Opposition members present The House passed 12 bills. They were the Land Amendment Bill, the Apple and Pear Marketing Amendment Bill, the Wool Commission Amendment Bill, the Superannuation Amendment Bill, the Medical Amendment Bill, the Stock Amendment Bill, the Stock Remedies Amendment Bill, the Defamation Bill, the Merchandise Marks Bill, the Quarries Amendment Bill, the Friendly Societies Amendment Bill, and the Municipal Corporations Bill. In addition, one private bill, the Loyal Orange Institution of New Zealand Trust Bill, was passed. Sixteen other bills were put through the committee stages before the House adjourned at 11.50 pm. until 2.30 p.m. tomorrow, when discussion on legislation will be continued.
