Colombo Plan Aid

(N.Z. Press Association—Copyright) COLOMBO, September 21. South and South-east Asian countries received nearly £370,000,000 worth of external aid under the Colombo Plan during 1951-53, according to a booklet just released by the Plan’s information unit. .

In that period Commonwealth countries of the region—Pakistan, India, Ceylon,- Malaya, Singapore, North Bornea, and Sarawak-—received Or were authorised to receive aid totalling £305.000,000, the booklet said. Australia, New Zealand, Canada, and Britain provided a little over £77,000,000 of this amount and about £43,000,000 came from grants from the United States. Another £145,000,000 represented loans from the United States, the World Bank, and Britain.
