WOMEN’S N.Z. AIR FORCE
NEW STAFF OFFICER APPOINTED (New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, August 28. The appointment of Squadron Officer Ernestine G. Hume as staff officer, Women’s Royal New Zealand Air Force —the senior post in this branch of the R.N.Z.A.F.—is announced by the Air Board.
Squadron Officer Hume, who was until recently supervisor of the WJLN.Z.AT. at the R.N.Z.A.F. station, Lauthala Bay, Fiji, succeeds Squadron Officer T. M. Lawson, who z was married recently, and is now living in Auckland. Squadron Officer Hume joined the R.N Z.A.F. as a clerk in 1942, and was commissioned in 1943. Since then, she has Been employed on many R.N.Z.A.F. stations as airwomen’s supervisor. Born at Te Akau, near Hamilton, Squadron Officer Hume was educated at Sonning College, now known as the Waikato Diocesan School for Girls.
