THEFT IN PERTH ALLEGED
MAN ARRESTED AT MURCHISON (New Zealand Press Association). NELSON, August 28. The licensee of the Commercial Hotel, Murchison, Victor Eric Hessell, aged 37 years, was charged in the Magistrate’s Court at Nelson yesterday morning with the theft and receiving on May 7, 1953, of £3832 from the Midland Railway Company in Western Australia. Mr H. J. Thompson, l S.M., ordered him to be detained in custody to await extradition to Australia, where he would face the charge at Perth.
