“•* belts are a fashion highlight . of the summer dresses Pansian women are now wearing. And belts appear just about anywhere on a dress, not only at the waist. On a moulded Empire style dress, Jacques Fath puts a belt, and buckle in the niaterial. just under the bustline so that the form-fitting skirt gives the impression of starting above the waistline. Hubert de Givenchy has a idea for a sugar pink silk start dress, with an enormous gathered skirt and loose-fitting bodice. The belt.is where one expects to find it—with a difference. Instead of being fastened, it is just loosely tied, with the buckle hanging down. A striped, sailor-collared suit by Balmain is fastened with three buckles instead of buttons.
A large .gathering of parents and fnends of members of the Crippled Young Men’s Club was held at the club roomsrecently. Entertainment was provided by the Addington Workshops burlesque band and concert party.
