SOLO AND QUARTET WINNERS
Results of the Canterbury Provincial Brass Bands’ Association’s solo and quartet competitions held on Saturday in Christchurch were:— Solo, under 15 Years, Own Choice.—D. Hoy (Addington), 90 points, 1; M. Moylan, 74, 2; E. Mason, 73, 3. Under 12 Years, Slow Melody.—D. Ross Ord Armoured), 70 points, 1; G. Weir (Ashburton). 65, 2; H. Hughes (3rd Armoured), 62. 3. Quartets (Sedley Wells Cup).—3rd Armoured Regiment No. 1, 75 points, 1; Christchurch Municipal Senior No. 1, 70, 2; 3rd Armoured Regiment No. 2, 69, 3. The judge in these sections was Mr F. Smith. Solo, under 17 Years, Own Choice.—R. Hughes (Addington), 90 points, 1; B. Aldridge: Ord Armoured), 89, 2; K. Marks (Christchurch Municipal Senior), 88, 3. Solo, under 19 Years.—P. Joughin (3rd Armoured), 91 points. 1; W. Freemar (Christchurch Municipal Senior 89, 2; N Taylor (3rd Armoured), 88, 3. In these sections the judge was Mr D. Christensen.
