Pines Beach—Mrs Martin presided at the monthly meeting of the Pines Beach Women’s Institute which was well attended. Members contributed babies’ feeders for the children’s ward in the Public Hospital. Final arrangements were made for the fifth birthday party. Miss O. G. Murgatroyd gave an instructive demonstration on the making of skin and fur gloves. Competition results were as follows:—large bloom: Mrs Taylor 1. Mrs Hawkins 2, Mrs Weastell 3. Thompson gave a report on a group meeting held in Rangiora. Two items were sung by the. institute glee group. A report of the conference of institutes was given by Mrs Lang.
