Labour Group Sees Flood Areas
SHANGHAI. August 26. Mr Clement Attlee and his Labour Party colleagues today flew over some of the worst flood-ravaged areas of China on their way to Shanghai from Peking. Here and there on the 800-mile flight a marooned village was visible amid the sea of utter desolation brought about by China’s worst floods in 100 years, which are now receding. The first major item on their programme in Shanghai will be a banquet tonight given by the Mayor (Mr Chen Yi) at the International Hotel, a high building in the former international quarter.
